Lower Murray Water (LMW) is undertaking a staged rollout of UV disinfection across nine WTPs. These three WTPs are the second stage of the works program, with the remaining two WTPs scheduled for subsequent financial years.
Lower Murray Water has awarded a contractor to construct ultraviolet disinfection facilities to achieve a 4 log Protozoa inactivation at a minimum 80% Ultraviolet Transmittance (UVT) at three water treatment plants (WTPs) including:
1. Mildura West WTP;
2. Robinvale WTP; and
3. Kerang WTP.

The UV systems will act as part of a multiple barrier system aimed at increasing protozoa reduction that can provide a robust secondary barrier in event of poor raw water quality conditions or suboptimal filter performance.
