Description

This project will provide an evidence base to inform decisions regarding the most effective model of school review for Victorian government schools, and the most appropriate Improvement Measures, from 2017 onwards. An effective school review model is one in which:

  • the investment in school review maximises the impact on student outcomes
  • robust diagnoses of schools’ areas of strength and weakness are accurately conducted
  • the capacity and capability of the system to conduct this diagnosis is continuously strengthened.

This project will involve exploring the costs and benefits associated with current school review arrangements, explore alternative models of review, and compare and contrast these.  The intent is to ensure the model and supporting arrangements for school review most effectively support improved student outcomes.  This will include an assessment of the appropriateness of current school Improvement Measures, including identification of additional and/or replacement measures. Particular consideration will need to be given to whether current measures facilitate school improvement conversations.
