BHS Catering is an autonomous business unit of the Ballarat Health Services, established in late 1997 with the merger of the former Queen Elizabeth Centre and the Ballarat Base Hospital food services department. BHS Catering provides food services for internal clients (i.e. Patients and Staff of the Ballarat Health Services) and external private clients, which includes meals on wheels, prisoner meals for the Victorian Police, child care centres and private function catering. The volume of meals prepared on a daily basis varies depending on the day of production and number of meals required. Internal Patient meals is approximately 780 on a daily bases with 1690 private client meals depending on volume required. All food is cooked and packaged at the Queen Elizabeth Centre site located in Ascot Street South, Ballarat and distributed by a range of BHS Catering owned vehicles to various locations around Victoria.

The Tender shall cover the following food groups: Frozen Foods, Fish and Fish Products, Milk and Milk Products, Bread and Bread Products, eggs, Chicken and Chicken Products, Fresh Prepared Vegetables and Miscellaneous Items.
