Description

Located in the Gippsland region approximately 145 kilometres southeast of Greater Melbourne, Wilsons Promontory was Victoria’s first National Park.  With over half a million visitors per year, it ranks among the state’s most visited and most loved nature-based tourism destinations. Local, interstate, and international visitors flock to “The Prom” to camp, hike, swim and enjoy the populations of wildlife and the environment.

The park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape and Parks Victoria respects the deep and continuing connection that Traditional Owners have to these lands and waters, and we recognise their ongoing role in caring for Country.

Parks Victoria provides numerous facilities within the Wilsons Promontory National Park to enhance the visitor experience. Public interest in the area has put pressure on existing infrastructure.

The Victorian Government has invested in the Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation Project to relieve this pressure, enhance the visitor experience at The Prom, and support Gippsland’s economic and social recovery from the impacts of recent catastrophic events (including COVID-19 and bushfires), through job creation and by renewing the region’s nature-based visitor economy.

One of the subprojects is to modify, refurbish and upgrade the Visitor Centre at Tidal River to operate more efficiently, integrate with existing buildings and provide better connectivity and use of open space which will be upgraded as part of the project. This will include consideration of modifications to the existing Education Building. All elements should maximise the operation of these facilities commensurate with the current and future demands of the Park.

In addition, a new amenities block will be introduced within the precinct to construct a new Victorian Changing Places Facility, including accessible public toilets and showers.

This Request for Tender seeks the supply of suitably qualified Principal Consultants to provide design, technical, engineering and landscaping services to progress this project through to contractor procurement and completion of construction.
