Description

VicRoads operates technology services for corporate and traffic operations functions from a data centre facility at its site at Kew.

This data centre hosts technology systems and connections that are vital to delivering VicRoads’ services to the public, including traffic management. The Kew data centre facility does not meet generally accepted industry standards for data centre design to mitigate risk of technology interruption from data centre failure.  Additionally, the current technology and associated architecture deployed within the Kew facility limits the ability of VicRoads IM&T to meet current and future business needs.

Similarly, VicRoads is constrained by its core PABX (which is end of life) from adopting and exploiting technologies that enable unified communications. As such, transition of telephony services to a Voice over IP (VoIP) solution with integrated unified communications capabilities is required.

VicRoads has initiated a program to transition from the current data centre to new arrangement(s). The purpose of this EOI is to seek responses from providers of services for data centre and other commodity technology infrastructure services including:

•                    Infrastructure/Platform-as-a-Service for approximately 60% of current technology;

•                    Managed data centre services to host and operate specialised infrastructure and equipment;

•                    Managed IP telephony and unified communications platforms;

•                    Provision of appropriate disaster recovery facilities and capabilities.
