Description

 

A.        Claims Management
·                The Department is self-insured for personal injury and property damage that are of a non-litigated nature. The Service Provider will manage personal injury and property damage claims that are of a non-litigated nature (‘non-litigated negligence claims’) from the point of notification through to resolution made against the State of Victoria, its servants or agents, but limited to matters of the Department or school councils (Indicative number of non-litigated negligence claims per annum – 80).
·                The Department provides a self-coverage scheme for school owned equipment in the event of a major peril (e.g. fire, flood, storm damage, theft). The Service Provider will manage property claims from the point of notification through to resolution in accordance with the School Equipment Coverage Scheme (SECS or ‘the Scheme’) Policy and Guidelines (Indicative number of SECS claims per annum – 190).
·                The Service Provider would provide ongoing loss and risk management/mitigation advice (where appropriate) to the Department in relation to the above claims.
·                The Service Provider would ensure the provision of regular and accurate reporting in relation the above claims, as requested by the Department and in accordance with all applicable Government requirements and policies. The implementation and maintenance of a claim reporting system is required.
B.        Loss Adjustment
·                The Service Provider will be required to provide a loss adjustment and a risk management/mitigation advice service where requested by the Department. The loss adjuster will conduct investigations into insurance claims to ensure their validity, inspect and assess the damage or loss, estimate insurance costs, compile a brief of evidence and provide advice and recommendation to the Department in regards to loss prevention.
·                The loss adjuster would ensure the provision of accurate and timely reporting in relation to the above loss adjustment services.
