Description

This invitation for Expressions of Interest (EOI) is designed to meet the requirements of the Victorian ICT Strategy and VicConnect initiative.

The particular intent of the EOI is to determine  the feasibility of seeking interested parties to build, own, support and maintain a free-to-use wireless broadband networks using Wi-Fi technology in outdoor public spaces in the central Melbourne, central Bendigo, and central Ballarat, in and around publicly owned infrastructure, and tourist hotspots. The State requires reliable free services for the public to use and be filtered from prohibited and undesirable content.
This EOI covers the first tranche of the rollout of Wi-Fi in Victoria which is to establish a free-to-use service in central Bendigo as a pilot to determine the feasibility and business models of free Public Wi-Fi services for the State. 
To support this first tranche, DSDBI may provide grant funding to assist in the implementation of the service, and in-kind contributions may also be offered (such as advertising, sponsorship and/or priority access to public infrastructure/facilities).
