Description
Potato Cyst Nematode, (PCN), is a root feeding nematode the presence of which affects the potato and nursery industries. The discovery of PCN in Victoria has affected the ease of market access for Victorian growers into interstate markets. Many interstate markets require certification for the importation of ware/seed/processing potatoes. This certification can be met in some cases by the grower/importer obtaining a Plant Health Certificate (PHC).
The requirement of this engagement is for appropriately trained and technically competent contractors to inspect for the presence of PCN within grower’s properties (at the grower’s request) and to issue Plant Health Certificates (PHC) for consignments destined for interstate markets.
The required scope of works include:
- Field Inspections taking samples to test for PCN in accordance with PSS-07
- Submission of samples to an approved diagnostic laboratory
- Issuance of PHC’s in accordance with PSP-24
