Description
VicTrack own and maintain the Chimney Stack on Champion Road in Newport. This is a brickwork structure with numerous steal straps aiding to keep the brickwork intact. The steel straps to the structure are bolted together in 4 pieces. When the straps were put on there was a butt weld undertaken in-situ and this weld (approx. 20m high) failed and caused the strap to fall to the ground. Urgent works were undertaken to make the area safe.
