The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is responsible for the delivery of primary health and primary mental health services, forensic mental health services and Alcohol and other Drug programs and services for prisoners while they are in custody. This includes setting the policy and standards for health care in prisons, strategic planning, contract management of service delivery in the public prisons, conducting clinical audits against health service standards and acting as custodian of prisoner health records.
DJCS intends to approach the market to procure future primary health and primary mental health services, and Alcohol and Other Drug programs and services to replace the current service agreements upon their completion.
The services include, but are not limited to:
· Primary health services including those of medical practitioners and general and mental health nurses, allied health professionals, dental services, diagnostic and other related services.
· Alcohol and other Drug programs and services including assessment services, harm reduction programs, health programs, criminogenic (offending behaviour) programs and individual counselling
