Description

1. Description:

Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) is planning to issue a targeted Request for Tender (RFT) in October 2023 for the renovation of the ground floor of the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM), encompassing the patient access points, concierge area, and foyer spaces.

The hospital is located at 720 Swanston Street, Carlton VIC 3053.

The primary goals of this project are to enhance the outdated visual appeal of the building, establish a more welcoming and modern environment, achieve current fire services compliance, and optimise the flow of patients as they enter and exit the premises.

It is important to note that this project exclusively pertains to the construction and implementation phase, as the specifications, design, and drawings will be provided as an integral part of the tender package.

2. Scope of Works:

This Select Request for Tender (RFT) seeks the engagement of a builder to undertake the refurbishment works on the ground floor of the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.

The objectives set forth by Dental Health Services Victoria for this refurbishment project encompass several key aspects, including:

  • Efficiency: The refurbishment aims to enhance the overall operational efficiency of the hospital's ground floor.
  • Improved Patient Flow: A primary focus is on optimizing the flow of patients throughout the facility to ensure a seamless and convenient experience.
  • Customer Service: The project seeks to elevate the level of customer service and satisfaction provided to patients and visitors.
  • Staff Wellbeing: Consideration is given to the wellbeing of the hospital's staff, with improvements in their working environment and facilities.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the refurbished area’s alignment with current compliance regulations and standards.

The scope of work encompasses various areas within the hospital, including the creation of a new south-west entrance, circulation spaces, waiting areas, information centres, staff facilities, patient interview spaces, and non-clinical consulting areas.

The refurbishment project covers an internal floor area of 797 square meters, with an additional 141 square meters allocated for external works and services, including the construction of a new entry on the south-western side of the building.
