Description

Advanced Tender Notice- Trail and Dance Ground construction Tower Hill

Tower Hill Reserve is located along Victoria’s southwest coast within the Great Ocean Road region, 13 kilometres from Warrnambool, the nearest regional centre.  The reserve sits within a volcanic crater which measures approximately 8 square kilometres.   This caldera is home to an abundance of flora and fauna and natural wetlands.  A number of established tracks and trails and the architecturally significant Robin Boyd visitor centre, and a large picnic area make the reserve popular with local visitors for recreational purposes and as a point of interest for travellers. Tower Hill is a significant place within the cultural landscape, being a place of social, cultural, natural, and geological significance, to the Eastern Maar. Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation are significant contributors to all aspects of the Reserve management and planning.

After extensive consultation with stakeholders and interested parties, the Tower Hill Activation and Linkages Plan was produced in 2021 outlining a number of initiatives to build on the existing operations and assets, while offering further unique experiences and greater accessibility for all and strengthening ties to cultural connections with Tower Hill.

Parks Victoria has received funding from Regional Development Victoria to actuate key initiatives identified by the plan and is currently finalising planning on those deliverable items.

Upcoming tenders will focus on improvements to walking tracks to enhance visitor experiences, create linkages between tracks, and expand universally accessible areas within the park.

Parks Victoria will be seeking proposals from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake the trail improvements both sealed and unsealed surfaces, construct viewing platforms, stairs and handrails. Additionally, works to enhance the culturally significant dance ground, with options on resurfacing, seating and construction of a shelter will also be tendered.

A public (single stage) tender will be made available on the Buying for Victoria website late July 2023 where finalized details will be made available.

Tenderers should note that the project is registered with the Industry Capability Network (ICN), and tenderers will be required to submit a Local Industry Development Plan (LIDP) as part of their tender submission.
