Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking proposals for the provision mental health nurses to provide real time, easily accessible, phone consultation and assessment including the utilization of video conferencing technologies for callers in a mental health crisis. Most often these are non-urgent low acuity patients however, at times, there can be callers identified as requiring emergency de-escalation management over the phone until ambulance arrival.   

The Embedded Credentialed  Mental Health Nurses will be located within the office of Ambulance Victoria Triage Service due to specific technology applications that are not accessed from external locations.

The service is required 24/7, 365 days a year and to cover a total of 48 hours in each 24-hour day with a minimum of 2 people on at any one time.   

The contract term is seven years being an initial term of three years plus options to extend for up to four years.  

The Contractor is sought to provide the entire service requirement covering 000 callers.  These calls being across the spectrum of mental health conditions, behaviours, and acuity levels. 

Ambulance Victoria is not seeking a nursing or staff nursing agency, ie., the Contractor is responsible for all aspects of the mental health triage employee relationship.

Tenderers please note that any departures from the draft Conditions of Contract must be identified in Part D Attachment 2 Departures to Conditions of Contract. Any departures will be considered by Ambulance Victoria and will be discussed during negotiations. Ambulance Victoria is not obliged to consider any departures to the draft conditions of Contract raised by a Tenderer post lodging a tender.
