Located in the Gippsland region approximately 145 kilometres southeast of Greater Melbourne, Wilsons Promontory was Victoria’s first National Park.  With over half a million visitors per year, it ranks among the state’s most visited and most loved nature-based tourism destinations.

Parks Victoria provides numerous facilities within The Prom to enhance the visitor experience, including serviced campsites, units and lodges at the Tidal River campground; a general store and café; outstation campsites; and network of walking trails. Ongoing visitation to the area has put pressure on existing infrastructure

As part of the November 2020 Budget, The Victorian Government has invested in the Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation Project to relieve this pressure, enhance the visitor experience at The Prom, and support Gippsland’s economic and social recovery from the impacts of recent catastrophic events (including COVID-19 and bushfires), through job creation and by renewing the region’s nature-based visitor economy.

The Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation Project includes a range of sub-projects which aim to enhance visitor experience and disbursement of visitation throughout the park that include improve car parking and access for day visitors that deter adhoc parking activities in peak season, as follows:

  1. Development of a day visitor carpark at Tidal River including pedestrian walkway to a central location within Tidal River
  2. Modification and improvement to the Squeaky Beach Car Park
  3. Installation of parking controls to overnight parking areas at Tidal River
  4. Further feasibility studies for a Park N Ride day visitor service
  5. Further minor car park upgrades at multiple locations to accommodate such a service

Parks Victoria is intending to release a Request for Tender for a Principal Consultant to develop concepts, undertake relevant land studies, detailed design, cost planning and preparation of tender documentation for the respective works through to practical completion.

This will be a public Request for Tender available on the Buying for Victoria website.

This is an Advanced Tender Notice, stay tuned for the "Request for Tender".

To ensure a fair process, Parks Victoria will not be responding to enquiries for this Request for Tender until it is publicly released to market.
