Description 

RMH is seeking a Construction Contractor to complete the works as six separable potions, summarised below. 

In 2019, RMH built an additional two (2) theatres on Level 3 to enable RMH to meet the elective and emergency surgery demand. Additional storage and staff facilities were not included during the build of the additional theatres. In 2021, as the COVID restrictions have slowly been lifted and the Perioperative Division has reviewed the existing theatres’ capacities and workflows, in preparation for post-COVID elective surgery. While theatre 16 is built and ready to be used, the Perioperative Division has identified several constraints that affect the theatre capacity and workflow.  

The purpose of the Theatre Project is to enhance the working environment for staff and provide efficiency for stock replenishment for the theatres. The locations of the Works include but are not limited to the existing biomedical store, sterile store, consumables store, equipment store, neuro consumables store, tearoom and seminar room across Basement, Levels 2, 3 and 4 in B Block, Level 3 of the CMR Building, Level 2 of the Infill Building and Basement of the West Wing.  

The business unit / department primarily driving the Project is the Perioperative (Peri-op) Division, however some Works will also affect the HIS / FOI department and Facilities Management.  

The Victorian Health Building Authority provided approval on 14th April 2021 for the infrastructure funding to carry out the Project to address the raised issues. Capital Works is to facilitate the procurement, design, and delivery of the project.
