Western District Health Service (WDHS) is seeking a contractor to undertake the landscaping requirements of The Birches Aged Care Facility, located in Hamilton, Victoria. The Birches Residential Aged Care, is a 45 bed facility providing residential aged care for people with specials needs and palliative care.
The planned works are to significantly improve the function of the external garden areas. This will include upgrades of outdoor activity areas that are based on the key design principles for people with dementia, such as accessibility, socialisation, reminiscence and sensory stimulation. Overall the project will enable enhanced accessibility and support quality activities and therapy programs within these environments that will be of benefit to all residents of the Birches.
WDHS engaged Thomson Hay Landscape Architects (THLA) (Wattle Flat, Victoria) to develop the design drawings for this project.
