The current 12-year Wagering and Betting Licence (the Licence), issued under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 (Vic), expires in August 2024.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (department) is now issuing a request calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from suitable gaming operators who wish to be considered to be invited to apply for the post-2024 Licence.

The new Licence will authorise the conduct of several gambling activities, including pari-mutuel and fixed odds betting, the only ability to operate an off-course wagering and betting retail network in Victoria, and a betting exchange.

Interested parties will need to respond to the EOI request, demonstrating, at a high level, their suitability to operate a wagering and betting business and responding to a number of options being considered by the department in relation to the term and exclusivity of the new Licence.
