Description

The Mallee Catchment Management Authority is seeking services of an employment provider to facilitate the employment of Non-Registered Aboriginal Party Traditional Owners and Indigenous Stakeholders for the Complex Assessment at Belsar-Yungera and Hattah Lakes.

The complex assessment at Belsar-Yungera and Hattah Lakes involves the disturbance (or excavation) of part of the activity area to uncover or discover Aboriginal cultural heritage. The activity can be adapted for participants of medium fitness with appropriate cultural heritage expertise. Participants will be using low impact and non-mechanised tools; spades, crowbar, sieves etc.

An indicative workday will be 7am to 3.30 pm with a half hour lunch break.

Where participants have a significant distance to travel, the CMA may provide accommodation. Most tasks will be field based in settings that meet the WorkSafe description of remote work.

Belsar-Yungera and Hattah Lakes Standard and Complex Assessments:

The field work at Belsar-Yungera will commence on the morning of the 15th of November 2021 to 17th of December 2021, followed by a 3 week break over the Christmas period, resuming works on 10th January 2022 to 7th March 2022

The date for the field work at Hattah Lakes will be advised at a later date.

Travel and meal allowances will be provided to representatives that require them. Mallee CMA will cover accommodation costs for the representatives.

There are 7 Traditional Owner groups at Belsar-Yungera requiring 2 representatives per day for complex assessment, 14 in total.

There are 5 Traditional Owners groups at Hattah Lakes requiring 2 representatives per day for complex assessment, 10 in total. 

For the above work, Mallee CMA will determine the representatives or groups to be contacted.

The employment provider must be able to effectively work and communicate with local Aboriginal people and communities. Knowledge of social justice issues in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, cultural awareness and an understanding of cultural safety is sought.
